Prof. Dzhafarov to deliver ASL Plenary Address at the 2014 Joint Mathematics Meetings
Assistant Professor Damir Dzhafarov will deliver a one-hour plenary address at the Association of Symbolic Logic session of the 2014 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore. The title of his talk will be New Directions in Reverse Mathematics.

Math major receives prestigious NSF Graduate Fellowship
Math major Tyler Reese was awarded an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Tyler worked under guidance of Luke Rogers, Dan Kelleher and Sasha Teplyaev. He will continue his research in the Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics graduate program at the University of Michigan. Department’s annual Awards Day Celebrated
The Mathematics Department’s Annual Awards Day took place on April 30 at 3:30 PM in IMS 20. The invited address, Math is not a spectator sport, was given by Glen Whitney, the president of the Museum of Mathematics.
Amit Savkar receives AAUP Award
Amit Savkar received the AAUP Excellence Award in Teaching Innovation for 2013, along with Xinnian Chen (Physiology and Neurobiology).

The Mathematics Department’s Annual Awards Day took place Thursday, April 26 at 3:30 PM in IMS 20. Opening remarks were made by Dean Jeremy Teitelbaum and the invited address after the ceremony was given by Michael Zieve (Univ. Michigan) on “Square Values of Polynomials.”
