Depending on the availability of funds, and the academic performance of applicants, the UConn Actuarial Science Program awards approximately 25 scholarships annually. Applications are only accepted during the last two full weeks in May.Scholarships are awarded using the following criteria:
- Academic Achievements: Provide your University of Connecticut cumulative grade point average through Spring, 2018 and, if you have taken any of the courses listed, please provide the final grade you received. Also provide any other academic achievements. Note the minimum required GPA is 3.6.
- Professional Achievements: Please list which actuarial exams you have passed and when you took them (e.g., Exam P, May 2016). Also list the company and date of any actuarial internship(s) (e.g., Travelers, Summer 2016, The Hartford, Summer 2015). If you have accepted an internship offer for this coming summer, please list that information as well.
- Community Service: Please describe services you provide or provided to your community or profession. For example, tutoring at the high schools in Hartford, big buddy in Gamma Iota Sigma, mentored freshmen who are majoring in actuarial science. Be sure to list the dates of your involvement.
- Leadership Skills: Please give examples of leadership skills. For example, President of Gamma Iota Sigma, Chairperson for SUBOG. Be sure to include the dates.

Scholarship winners will be notified over the summer. Winners will be announced to the actuarial community when classes resume in the Fall. Please note that application information might be provided to some of our corporate sponsors who provide the financial support for your scholarship.
