Non-Degree Enrollment Request

This form is for non-degree students seeking to enroll in a UConn MATH course in the upcoming term (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer Session 1, or Summer Session 2). Because non-degree prerequisites do not go on record at UConn, they need a manual override in order to enroll in courses such as MATH 1132Q, 2110Q, 2210Q, 2410Q, and 3160. If your prerequisite is approved and seats are still available in the course/section you request, then we will process your request.

Math Placement Exam (MPE) Policy

Visiting non-degree students do not need the MPE enrollment requirement for MATH 1060Q, 1131Q and 1132Q. They should be able to enroll in MATH 1060Q and 1131Q on their own - if they see a prompt to enter a permission number it's optional so they can move on to the next enrollment step. For MATH 1132Q, they still need to fill out this form to provide proof of the Calculus I prerequisite.

However, Matriculating non-degree students do need to take and pass the MPE for Calculus at UConn.

Prerequisite Information

• We will check if the prerequisite course is already on record as equivalent to UConn's, but if it is not then we will contact you requesting a copy of the course syllabus and outline to review the course.

• It’s fine if the course is currently in progress, but you are responsible for dropping the UConn summer course if you fail to complete the prerequisite before the start of the UConn course.

• There is no grade requirement for the prerequisite course, just note that if the final grade is below a “C” (2.0) and you ever consider transferring/matriculating to UConn in the future, the prerequisite course credits will not transfer here.

Upload your unofficial transcript from the college/university or your score report from the exam program as proof that you have the prerequisite. If you are uploading a college transcript, it needs to clearly display your name, the school's name, the course, semester and credit earned or in progress.

The AP score report is a downloadable PDF from the College Board website. If your AP Calculus score is not ready until early-July, you are only conditionally eligible for courses in Summer Session 2 and in the meantime you can provide an unofficial copy of your high school transcript that shows you recently took the AP course.
